The only type of massage that is insurable by health benefits or health plans. Registered massage therapy is a clinical style of massage intended for accidents and injuries. As a patient, you will be assessed and treated by your massage therapist according to your presenting conditions, and a treatment plan will be created. A short list of conditions to see your massage therapist for include: sprains, strains, contusions, arthritis and other inflammatory conditions, carpal tunnel syndrome, numbness and tingling, multiple sclerosis, hemiplegia (stroke), emphysema, hypertension, varicose veins, HIV, headache, migraines, including pregnancy, post-partum, surgical scars, chronic pain, neuralgia, and of course muscle tension in the back, neck and shoulder. Some therapists also provide manual lymph drainage.
